It's really simple. You need to be real with your vocal aptitude. Have you had vocal coaching or lessons? The aforementioned suggestions aren't vital; however, these tips can be fitting to a career. So, it is not essential but can further you develop proper technique and breathing, and give you supplementary tools in your arsenal.

I advise vocal coaching if you can find someone who is an professional in the field and can help you.) Keep in mind that only a hand full of the judges for the regional auditions, the pre-Idol judges, if you will, have gone through time on the "other side of the glass" as a recording artist. Undoubtedly, most of these regional judges are professionals with no singing talent in any way. However, most do have some sort of practical knowledge in entertainment. So, you should entertain the judges in your regional auditions. beyond the regional judges can be accomplished with a carefully crafted strategy and well thought out song choices.

What not to do: Initially, please don't go dressed in a monkey outfit. paint yourself purple. Don't dress up like an idiot or you will be perceived as one. Don't be misguided by believing that you need to stand out from the troves of others in the regional auditions by doing something half-witted or dancing some blunderheaded dance.

Let me be honest. Making it through the regional auditions is in a way based on singing talent and also part casting by the producers of the show. You will not be in control of the casting part. You might be a better singer than the contestant auditioning next to you but for some reason unbeknownst to you that contestant may get through to the next round probably because they are looking or acting quirky. If you are seeking for your 15 minutes of fame, then wear something brainless, and then prepare to get on camera and be back home later that afternoon because you won't go much further than that.

For entertainment , the producers of the regional auditions allow so many of the wacky people to make it through the regionals. But most of the chosen have any staying power, if you will, and are merely chosen to the next round for entertainment value on TV. I've watched these auditions from a distance for years now. If you are talented and believe you have vocal talent then simply go to the auditions and display your vocal talent; but, I'll caution you, you will only have ten or twenty seconds to do your thing. So be prepared to "turn it on" as soon as the judges say go and don't get distracted by telling the regional judges your life story about how your sister inspired you to audition. Just do your thing.
